General Questions
Q: What type of dance does Queen City Ishaare specialize in?
Queen City Ishaare specializes in Bollywood, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Classical, Bhangra, Raas and Fusion styles of dance.
Q: Are there any restrictions to joining the team?
QCI welcomes everyone to join! Our mission is to spread the love of dance to all, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or dance experience.
Q: I have zero dance experience... is joining QCI still an option for me?
No prior dance experience is required to join the team! Many people who audition have a dance background of some sort but QCI is a great introduction to learning dance, especially if you want to perform in college.
Q: How much of a time committment will being on a dance team be?

Around 5-7 hours a week. Practices will be 2-3 days a week for 2-3 hours. Closer to the competition season, practice times may increase to prepare adequately.

Auditions
Q: Does Queen City Ishaare accept new members?
Queen City Ishaare welcomes new members. We take new members yearly and to join members can audition in either fall or spring.
Q: When are auditions for Queen City Ishaare?
Fall auditions for QCI will be held the second week of school - the last week of August. The specific date, time, and location will be posted on our Instagram @queencity_ishaare.
Q: What does audition week for QCI look like?
Audition week consists of two learning days and one audition day. During learning days you will be taught the audition segment step by step and have a chance to ask questions. On audition day you will perform the segments.
Q: What are learning days?
Learning days are designed to give new members a chance to meet QCI's board members and to learn audition choreography. Exec will teach you the choreo step by step and you can ask questions. There are 2 learning days.
Q: What does audition day look like?
On audition day, you and one other new member will be called together to perform the choreo from learning day. It will be only the captains watching and a video will be taken for future reference. Remember you're not expected to be perfect and have fun!
Q: What dance styles will we be expected to know for auditions?
Audition segments vary yearly. You will learn a mix of 3-4 dance styles, each being anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute long. The segment may include any of the following: Contemp, Classical, Bhangra, Kuthu, Hip-Hip, or Bollywood.
